The latest issue of the Climate Change Business Journal highlights sustainable approaches featured in recent Camiros’ projects in Buffalo and Mobile. Despite the federal government’s lack of interest in better understanding the climate impacts on transportation systems, state DOTs, regional MPOs, and local governments have continued to commission climate change risk assessments and incorporate climate risks into comprehensive planning and design/engineering of transport infrastructure. This market is dynamic, especially in coastal regions, and still in its early phases. Camiros Principal, Adam Rosa, AICP, was interviewed by the Journal to talk about how adaptive strategies have become standard practice to regular community planning at the firm.

People gathered at Westminster Presbyterian Church for the second community meeting on Thursday, November 2 as part of the planning process to revitalize the City of DeKalb’s Annie Glidden North (AGN) area. This meeting included several participation activities for attendees, one of which was to work in small groups and establish visions for five different focus areas within the larger project area. They also voted on an early action project from a list based on feedback collected during the first community meeting. And finally, attendees were asked to propose a name for the neighborhood. About 70 people were in attendance and excited to continue the planning process, contributing passion, local wisdom, and enthusiasm to work toward an improved AGN. North Star: “Annie Glidden North Revitalization plan moves forward with early action project”
The Shreveport Times has published new renderings for a kitchen incubator in the City of Shreveport. This ‘culinary hub’ was made possible through a $1 million Choice Neighborhood Planning and Action Activity grant awarded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to the City in 2016. Camiros helped the City prepare the successful grant application, which is one of many project examples of our involvement in HUD’s Choice Neighborhoods Program. Residents of the Ellis Heights Neighborhood are starting to move from the Fairgrounds into new homes at the Grove. The Grove development was a component of the housing strategy outlined in the award-winning Ellis Heights Choice Neighborhoods Transformation Plan that Camiros helped with creating.
