Rosewood Courts Choice Neighborhoods Plan

Austin, Texas

The Rosewood Choice Neighborhoods Plan employs a comprehensive approach to neighborhood planning.

As Planning Coordinator, Camiros worked closely with community stakeholders to craft a plan to revitalizing the distressed Rosewood Courts public housing complex while investing and leveraging investments in well-functioning services, high quality public schools and education programs, high quality early learning programs and services, public assets, public transportation, and improved access to jobs.

The Plan was developed with the active involvement of Rosewood Courts residents, community leaders, residents of the City’s designated Rosewood and Central East Austin planning areas, City staff, the University of Texas, and a variety of affordable housing, education and social service providers who have long-standing relationships with the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) and the Rosewood community.

The Plan Vision was to transform the Rosewood Choice Neighborhood into a vibrant and harmonious mixed-income community, one that embraces and honors the diverse cultures and values of both current and future residents.

Rosewood Courts enhancements reflect the historic and cultural significance of the site while accommodating the needs of both current and future residents. Rosewood Courts families and other low-income neighborhood residents have the support and services needed to help them move their families from poverty to prosperity.
