Camiros worked with Oak Park to prepare a complete update to the Village’s Zoning Ordinance.

As part of the ordinance revision, Camiros prepared a series of context-sensitive commercial districts addressing the specific character of the Village’s varied commercial areas.

The Village benefits from easy access to a robust public transit system, and the ordinance update leverages this access through the inclusion of a number of regulations aimed toward implementing Oak Park’s transit-oriented development priorities. Due to the Village’s easy access to robust public transit, a number of regulations were included in the ordinance update to implement transit-oriented development principles within Oak Park.

The Ordinance update also included an analysis and revision of the residential districts to better reflect on the ground conditions in the Village’s neighborhoods, significantly reducing the number of nonconforming residential lots. New sustainable development techniques were also integrated into the ordinance, such as permissions for alternate energy systems and sustainable landscape regulations.
